The 2010 Oscars have come and gone with The Hurt Locker standing out as the night's big winner. The acting awards went to this season's favorites - Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side, Mo'Nique for Precious, Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart, and Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds. The show kicked off with Neil Patrick Harris's opening number, which was the perfect lead-in to Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin playing off each other throughout the night. Young Hollywood had an exciting evening as well with presenters including Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, who both chatted backstage about being a bit nervous before stepping out. Kristen got to have a moment with her dad on the way in, which gave us a super sweet sighting. Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick also made a sweet duo giving out a statue together. The Academy Awards red carpet provided some excitement, of course, and the acceptance speeches had us laughing and crying as the winners took the stage. When Lisa Kudrow decided to bring the British reality show Who Do You Think You Are? to the U.S., she knew she wanted to be the first guest. But the former Friends star -- who executive-produces the new NBC series (premiering the first week of March) -- was in for a surprise. Who Do You Think You Are? takes celebrities on a journey through their family history, linking their ancestors to famous historical figures and events. Kudrow says that her father had already done a lot of geneaology work -- “he has a 46-page family tree” -- so she wasn’t sure what else the show’s researchers could uncover. What they found was an Eastern European cousin who survived the Holocaust. Along with the show’s crew, Kudrow traveled to Belarus to learn his story, and she described the experience to The New York Daily News as difficult, inspiring and deeply personal: "It's the being there and walking the same path that these people walked to their deaths that doesn't allow you to keep it at an emotional distance.” Other celebs to be featured on the new series include power couple Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, Spike Lee, Susan Sarandon and Brooke Shields. Kudrow says her famous friends were eager to sign up and learn about their family histories and she thinks the show would be just as fascinating with non-celebrities, because everybody in America has a unique story. Has Matthew Broderick been taking career advice from wife Sarah Jessica Parker? The actor, who's never had a regular TV gig in his life, has signed on to helm a new NBC sitcom. Called Beach Lane, the show will star Broderick as a famous writer who's hired by "an irresponsible millionaire" to run a small-town newspaper. The show will be set in the Hamptons, the tony Long Island neighborhood popular with vacationing Manhattanites. The move to TV is a surprising one for 47-year-old Broderick; unlike many actors, he's avoided television almost entirely, with the exception of the occasional made-for-TV movie (like 2003's The Music Man, in which he starred opposite Kristin Chenoweth). The Ferris Bueller's Day Off actor hasn't even done many movies, opting instead for Broadway roles. The star dipped his toe into the sitcom waters for the first time in 2008, appearing as a disgruntled Homeland Security official on 30 Rock -- and we've gotta say, he was funny enough to steal scenes from Alec Baldwin (no small feat!). Broderick's wife, of course, owes much of her career to the half-hour comedy format. Sarah Jessica Parker got her first big break as a misfit teen in the 1982 CBS sitcom Square Pegs... and 16 years later, a little cable comedy-drama called Sex and the City made her a household name. Wonder if she's responsible for nudging Broderick off the stage and onto the TV set? From the little we know about Beach Lane, it actually has a vague resemblance to Sex and the City: the main character is a newspaper writer, who pals around with millionaires and chronicles the lives of New Yorkers. An Ohio lawman just got Carried away ... to jail! Martins Ferry, Ohio, Police Chief Barry Carpenter was found guilty last month of snooping around the residence of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's surrogate mother, searching for souvenirs that he tried to sell to the tabloids. He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after being convicted for receiving stolen property, theft in office and tampering with evidence. Michelle Ross, who gave birth last June to the celebrity couple's twin girls, was not at home at the time of the incident, but she discovered items misplaced. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick with their two little girls. Among the items Carpenter ganked were a plaster cast of her belly, ultrasound pictures and various surrogate documents with tax information. Obviously. The police chief was later caught red-handed on audiotapes recorded by internal affairs investigators approaching paparazzi to hock the mementos for cash. The policeman did catch a break, however: He could've gotten the maximum of six years in the slammer, but he was also acquitted on charges of burglary. His attorney said he plans to appeal the sentence.
